SUSTAINABLE HOUSING DESIGN, COLERAINE
This is a scheme for 4 new three bedroom Town Houses to replace old building stock.
The scheme seeks to create a lively street scene which encourages a healthy community spirit and establishes a sense of belonging and ownership. A balance between public, private and semi-private outdoor spaces, helps to create this atmosphere allowing the owner to engage and withdraw from the public realm as they choose.
The scheme incorporates a roof garden and rear private back garden for each property. Additionally a small street facing amenity space provides the opportunity for interaction while giving the houses some space to breath away from the footpath.
The construction is proposed to be SIP (Structurally Insulated Panels) construction, which is an exteremely energy efficient system and fast to construct on site. A green roof and cedar panelling gives variety and interest to the elevation and improves its green credentials.
Photovoltaic in-line slates and solar panels, as well as a wood-burning stove, are also proposed for each home.
The project is currently in development.
