Modern Garden Room Extension, Portrush

This project is for a Garden room extension to an existing house. The client wanted to open up there existing kitchen to a larger dining and living space. They wanted greater connection between the house and its garden with a light and airy feel.

We responded by removing the wall between the kitchen and the extension entirely. The existing kitchen worktop could then be extended to become a breakfast bar physically connecting with the extension. The extension is a modern cedar clad building housing a dining and living space that open directly out to the South West facing garden via large sliding aluminium doors. A corner window and frameless full width glazed rooflight alow light to bounce of walls providing a modern, light and airy space.

The building is proposed to be constructed out of a highly insulated timber frame with western red cedar cladding. The wood burning stove would be the spaces main form of heating and would also be connected to a back boiler to heat water for the main house.

The project has received planning permission.
